It is written much like the pace and timing of a big screen adventure movie with little down time for serious life issues or detailed explanations. Riordan successfully paces his stories with constant conflict, suspense or battles. Firebreathing Cacus wears a red velour housecoat with matching slippers. At times, visual descriptions of monsters are humorous. At times, his humor plays off of his character's insecurities, such as when Percy is unsure of how to act around his DEMIGOD girl friend, Annabeth. Riordan's style is fast paced, current and humorous. Riordan and some of the major characters without having to commit to an entire series. It is a great way to introduce resistant reader to the style of R. Many characters of Rick Riordan's popular series are given the chance to tell adventure and be interviewed in this episodic chapter book.
